Former Panavision and EFILM product specialist to lead development and marketing for CORTEX and DRS™NOVA.
HOLLYWOOD—Randy Reck, an engineer and product specialist with broad expertise in production and post-production workflow technologies, has joined MTI Film as Director of Product Development. Reck will oversee product development, sales and marketing for CORTEX, the company’s line of dailies solutions, DRS™NOVA, its digital restoration package, and other software-based products. Reck’s background includes senior technology posts with Panavision, EFILM and Encore Hollywood.
“Randy has been at the forefront in developing new technologies and workflows to support digital cinema production and post,” said MTI Film CEO Larry Chernoff. “We will take full advantage of his expertise and insights as we continue to develop CORTEX and DRS™NOVA, and extend their reach into new markets.”
Reck previously served as Director, Product Management, Digital Workflow Systems for Panavision. Among other things, he helped to design and implement Panavision’s large-format camera systems. Reck spent seven years as Chief Engineer at EFILM, where was the system architect for CinemaScan, its data-based dailies system that transformed workflows for feature film production. He began his career as an engineer with Encore Hollywood, where he supported systems for dailies processing, editing and color grading. He held a similar position with Santa Monica post house Riot.
Reck looks forward to employing his expertise in on-set and near-set workflows and dailies processing in promoting CORTEX. “MTI Film has developed a product that is clearly a superior solution for dailies and workflow management,” he said. “I look forward to working with clients and helping them get the most from this great solution.”
He added that he is particularly excited about new CORTEX features, including Dead Pixel Detection and Correction, that are creating new applications for the product.
“MTI Film has a long history of developing products that fulfill critical needs in innovative ways,” said Reck. “DRS™NOVA has become an indispensable tool for restoration facilities around the world, and it continues to improve and add powerful features. I am excited to be part of this dynamic company.”
