STORY’s Laurie Rubin Rings in the Holidays with Crate & Barrel

CHICAGO—STORY director Laurie Rubin captures the holiday spirit through place settings in a beautifully crafted pair of ads for Crate & Barrel and New York agency Huge. Each 15-second spot presents a sequence of tabletops lavishly adorned with holiday plates, silverware, cups and accessories, with each tableau meticulously arranged to suggest the tastes and personalities of different people. Themed “Holiday Table” and “Holiday Party,” respectively, the spots are set to indie singer Stacey Marcus’ upbeat version of The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

Groundbreaking display will envelop City Hall in sound and 3D imagery in the culmination of The Music Center’s annual New Year’s celebration.

HOLLYWOOD—On New Year’s Eve, Los Angeles residents will have an opportunity to witness one of the largest 3D digital mapping displays in Los Angeles history. As part of The Music Center’s 2nd Annual Grand Park’s N.Y.E. L.A. event, L.A.’s historic City Hall will be transformed into a towering digital sculpture.  With content conceived by Garson Yu, artistic director of the award-winning design studio yU+co, in collaboration with the Grand Park team, the spectacular multimedia display will combine cutting edge 3D projection mapping, interactive sound, and  a powerful narrative celebrating Los Angeles, its culture and its people.

Darren Aronofsky to be Honored with MPSE Filmmaker Award

2015 MPSE Golden Reel Awards Set for February 15

Studio City, California – December 22, 2014 – The Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) today announces that it will honor Academy Award-nominated director Darren Aronofsky with its annual Filmmaker Award. The director of Noah, Black Swan, The Wrestler and other films is being recognized for his outstanding contributions to the art of cinema. He will be presented with the award at the 62nd MPSE Golden Reel Awards, February 15, 2015 in Los Angeles.

MPSE President Frank Morrone described Aronofsky as a master storyteller whose work exhibits a strong creative vision, and bold visual and audio style. “Darren Aronofsky’s films are both challenging and immensely entertaining, as evidenced by their critical acclaim and box office success,” Morrone said. “We are extremely excitied to honor his achievements by selecting him for our prestigious Filmmaker Award.”

Supervising Sound Editor Skip Lievsay to Receive MPSE Career Achievement Award

2015 MPSE Golden Reel Awards Slated for February 15th

Studio City, California – The Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) today announces that it will honor Academy Award-winning Supervising Sound Editor and Re-Recording Mixer Skip Lievsay with its 2015 MPSE Career Achievement Award. Lievsay, who won the 2014 Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing for his work on Gravity (with Niv Adiri, Christopher Benstead and Chris Munro), has contributed to nearly 150 films over the course of a career spanning more than 30 years. He has been a frequent collaborator of directors Joel and Ethan Coen, as well as Martin Scorsese, Spike Lee, John Sayles and many others. Lievsay will receive the award at the 2015 MPSE Golden Reel Awards ceremony, February 15, 2015 in Los Angeles.

“Skip represents the pinnacle in artistry in motion picture sound,” said MPSE President Frank Morrone. “He has worked tirelessly to invent new and creative ways to use sound to advance directors’ visions, to tell stories and to entertain audiences. Technicolor-PostWorks Contributes to Nine Golden Globe Nominated Features and TV Shows

“The Hundred-Foot Journey,” “Into the Woods,” “Noah” and “True Detective” are among the nominees that selected the facility for post-production services.

NEW YORK—December 18, 2014— Technicolor-PostWorks New York provided post-production services to five motion pictures and four television shows nominated for 2015 Golden Globe Awards. The shows racked up a total of 18 nominations. Golden Globe winners will be announced January 11th at a ceremony in Beverly Hills.
